I am/was a great fan of John Denver's songs. One in particular was titled: Some Days are Diamonds, Some Days are stone. This was the inspiration for my blog....when I get to a stage of progress on a particular piece of art work, I like to call that day a Diamond Day. Here are some of my projects.

June 7 2007 Jacobean 1 of 4
Hi everyone.....here I go making progress with my July journal in beading.
This is going to be a lot of fun I know. I'm getting right into my 1 or 4 Jacobean block. I think it will be about 4x4 when finished. Jacobean work is USUALLY done with crewel work...here I am changing the media and switching to beads. I am not sure how this is going to turn out, but today I went ahead and started filling in the leaves and vine. I love the vine as it was quite plain looking and then I remember some oval beads which I had recently removed from a skirt and added to my collection. They are perfect. They look like little 3 petal drops. I almost added 2 beads to the top to give them a "pansy" shape but decided that sometimes less is more.
Then I went to the top leaves and tried to figure out a way to make them look a little dimentional. I hope it works. I still have the very top leaf to finish....maybe later tonight.
So for now, this is my day's journal posting. Talk to you again soon I'm sure.

Hi Everyone....well, here we have the finished 4x4 of Walter Campbell's JUNE BRIDE. I have learned much in this little sampler. First it does take time and thousands of beads. Secondly that is hard to do so much detail and have it not look a bit too full.
So I'm moving to a different subject for next month. This is certainly a learning experience and I'm having so much fun.
See you all later.

Bead Lust completed for Jun 07 Project
And here is the start of Walter Campbell tribute block. It is 4x4 approximately and I chose to start the month of June...of course I'm calling this block JUNE BRIDE.....
It was my intention to do all 12 blocks and end with a year of Uxbridge Memories....but I'm thinking a new plan to work with as well.....I'm not sure if I'll continue or move to the new idea.
This journal is to stretch our imaginations and to help us learn. I have learned from this picture that sometimes you can't take a beautiful painting and make it different....thanks Walter for this 1st step......stay tuned for other choices I'm making. (I am not totally leaving my Year of Uxbridge behind, just looking at other avenues) I'm a Diamond and I'm allowed to change my sparkle. :)
